Excel Tours Playa del Carmen promotional posters
February 3, 2012 at 6:00 pm | Posted in Some Designs | Leave a commentTags: eco-adventure, graphic design, mayan riviera, playa del carmen, travel agency

These are different posters I’ve made recently for this client in Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo, Mexico. This client asked me to create some promotional posters, they had a very limited budget so these posters needed to display just very basic information, no pictures at all, ‘they have to be spotted from the other side of the street’ was the only request. So I just played around with just different types, sizes and background colors, etc. Finally I added this ‘grainy textured folded paper texture’ with a twist of ‘vintage look’, like if they were silk-screen printed.

There’s no logo placed on these posters because they are to be displayed exclusively in Playa del Carmen branch office, as part of their promotions.

One, two, buckle my shoe…

These are different illustrations for an interactive project. These illustrations needed to be in vector format and layered in order to be slightly animated, some basic lip-sync, some blinking, some moving arms and stuff like that.

Hortelano Yo?
November 13, 2011 at 1:16 am | Posted in Some Character Designs, Some Illustrations | Leave a commentTags: character design, gardener, horticulture, illustration, urban garden

This is an illustration for the header of this blog about urban gardening named Hortelano Yo? (‘Hortelano’ means gardener) for this friend in Barcelona. He’s running this very interesting project with his own resources and expertise. For a near future we’ll work together in some other stuff like a coloring book, or a book of ‘home gardening for kids’, and similar stuff.

The Book Reader

I’m just trying to develop a consistent style, so from now on I’ll try my illustrations to be like this one, depending on the project, the complexity, but I’m trying to go basic, so let’s see how it goes, comments and advices are always welcome.
Mayans’ Explorers brochure

My friend of Mayan’s Explorers was invited to a tourism and eco-adventure expo in Mexico City, he received this invitation just a few days before the opening (that, by the way, took him completely by surprise), so he wasn’t ready with printed stuff like brochures, not even his business cards, the reason is that the logo wasn’t ready, although he was using an old one I designed, he wasn’t quite happy with the final result, (I’ve already posted about this issue in april this year, you can read about it here). Anyway, I presented some new proposals, and now the client is feeling very confident and happy with all the proposals, (I’ll write about these proposals and the new logo in a future post).
About the brochure, we had a few days to work on it and have it ready on time to send it to print, so while I was working on the brochure layout, the client was getting some photographs and writing the text. It’s pretty much easier to come up with something when you have the understanding of what the client is expecting to see in any determined project, and he’s aware of his duty of easing things up (like getting the stuff you need in order to fulfill the task in the requested time). It’s a matter of good communication.

I’m happy to announce that I’m listed in illustrationmundo.com, maybe there might be thousands of illustrators too, well, anyway, for me it’s such a pleasure to be listed with those incredible talented colleagues.
I’d like to thank Nate Williams and his illustrationmundo.com website, an excellent showcase of illustrators from all around the ‘mundo’.
